HUNTINGTON, Ind. (WANE) Monday's fire at the Carriage Place Apartments has been ruled accidental, according to Huntington Fire Chief Tim Albertson.

Chief Albertson said the fire started on the first floor inside a wall between apartment units. Albertson cannot confirm or rule out an electrical issue as an electrical engineer has not looked at the scene of the fire.

According to Carriage Place's Manager, Gina Link, other apartments within the complex have been found for nine of the eleven families that have been displaced. One family is getting a house and the final family has moved to a different apartment complex.

Link told NewsChannel 15 that Carriage Place has received many calls from people interested in helping families affected by the fire. Link said they are organizing help for the families out of the complex's office. The Red Cross is also assisting.

Link suggests gift cards as a good way to help as families can then go out and purchase anything they may need.
