FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) The Fort Wayne Fire Department took 32 minutes to control a fire that broke out in a home located in the 100 block of Suttenfield Avenue East on Tuesday afternoon.

Crews arrived on the scene shortly before 2 pm after the occupants of the home called 911 when they saw smoke and flames in the porch area.  They managed to escape safely.

Firefighters found heavy smoke and flames coming from the front porch area of the home.  The fire managed to travel up the exterior of the home into the attic before firefighters were able to get it under control.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
