FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The Fort Wayne Fire Department is investigating a house fire early Friday morning.
Firefighters were called to a home in the 1100 block of North Anthony Boulevard shortly after midnight Friday. Crews found smoke and flames in the front portion of the basement and were able to put it out in 18 minutes.
Fire officials said three adults, five children, and three dogs all made it out safely.
Battalion Chief Todd Korn said TRAA paramedics provided oxygen to some of the animals, who suffered from smoke inhalation. Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control transported the dogs for observation.
The house sustained moderate fire and water damage, but heavy smoke damage.
A portion of North Anthony Boulevard was closed while crews battled the fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
