Fall weekend events for Oct. 19-21

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The Fort Wayne area is featuring three fall activities during the weekend of October 19, 20, and 21.

Fright Night Downtown

Fright Night Downtown , presented by OmniSource, will be held on Saturday, October, 20 and will feature four different activities.

Embassy Tunnel Tours

  • Tour the belly of the Embassy and hear haunted stories about the resident ghost and other historic legends.
  • 4:30-6:30 p.m.
  • 7:30-10:00 p.m.
  • Tickets are $5 per person and are available at the Embassy box office and Ticketmaster.

The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari featuring Dennis James on the Grande Page Pipe Organ

  • The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, from 1919, is one of the greatest horror movies of the silent film era and is cited as the first film to introduce a twist ending. The movie is set in an insane asylum.
  • 7 p.m.
  • Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for students and children 12 and under. Tickets are available at the Embassy box office and Ticketmaster.

Indiana Paranormal Inquisitor’s Hunt for the Embassy Ghost

  • Spend the night at the Embassy with the Indiana Paranormal Inquisitor’s Hunt for the Embassy Ghosts
  • 11 p.m.-4 a.m.
  • Tickets are $60 and it includes the Ghost Hunt and a T-shirt. You can get them by contacting Jackie Hicks at jackieinquisitor@frontier.com

Indiana Hotel Lobby Activities

  • Listen to spooky stories by T.A.G. Art or do a walking tour.

Garrett Ghoul Spooktacular

Children will be showcasing their Halloween costumes in the Garrett Ghoul Spooktacular parade, which will be held on Saturday, October 20, beginning at 4:30 p.m. at the Garrett High School Football Stadium.

Participants of the parade have each raised $10 to be a part of the event. There will also be games, a bounce house, and a straw maze that will be open to non-parade participants for $2 per child.

Middle and high school students and community members can participate in either a 1 mile Fun Run or a 4K Run for Survival. Each of the runs have an obstacle course where teachers, coaches, and group sponsors will be dressed as "ghouls." Each runner will wear a flag and the ghouls will attempt to take the flag off of the runners until they reach the finish line.

The event also features an after party with music, bonfire, and food. Non-participants can join the after party for $5 each.

75% of all proceeds raised will go towards the school the student attends and 25% will go to the JAM Recreation Center.

4:30 p.m. - Participant Registration
4:30 p.m. - 7:30 PM Family Spooktacular Fair/Hayrides
5:30 p.m. - Children’s Spooky Costume Parade /Costume Prize Announcement
6:30 p.m. - Fun Run - Run for Survival/Awards
7:30 p.m. - 4K – Run for Survival/Awards
7:30 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. - Participant After Party

Party in Pink Zumbathon

The Parkview YMCA will be hosting a Zumbathon to raise money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. The event will be held on Sunday, October 21 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Parkview YMCA on 10001 Dawsons Creek Blvd. in Fort Wayne. The event costs $10 and 75% of the ticket price will go towards breast cancer research, education, and treatment.
