Excitement builds in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS (WANE) - With just two days to go before Super Bowl XLVI, excitement is growing in downtown Indianapolis. And so is the crowd.

Super Bowl Village was packed with people from all over Friday. Jim Bouril and his sons drove overnight from Pennsylvania. Sporting Steelers jerseys, they and their friends, Kyle Davidson and his sons, were taking in the sights.

"I've been here before and it's a great city. I'm excited to be downtown. I've been to the Indy 500 a couple of times, but this is the first time for this kind of stuff. I'm excited," Bouril said.

They left at 4 a.m. and drove the six and half hours to Indianapolis. The group is going to the NFL experience and staying the night, but Saturday it's time for the drive back home again.

"I like it," Davidson said. "It's my first time here ... and it's been neat so far. I'm excited to see more"

Fil Cerminara flew in from Connecticut Thursday. A Giants fan, his team brought him to Indianapolis, but the city itself will bring him back.

"I would come back, no question," Cerminara said. "Everybody's been unbelievable. It's like everyone's been trained on how to be extra nice."

Cerminara's been to other Super Bowls and said Indianapolis did it up right.

"This is really impressive. It's overwhelming, the Super Bowl Village. It's pretty cool," he said.

Also making the Super Bowl extra 'super' are all the volunteers. Lonnie Harper and his son, Dan, came from Fort Wayne to help with the fun.

"It's been great. This is an exciting thing to do. My son and I have volunteered for the senior golf outing and the Final Four Tournament and this is out of this world. They say Super Bowl, it's a super day, it really is," Lonnie said.

Lonnie and Dan spent a few hours at an information booth in Super Bowl Village answering questions and handing out maps on Friday morning. Then in the afternoon they had another volunteer shift at Touchdown Alley in the NFL Experience.

And, it's volunteers like the Harpers who helped make Cerminara's experience so memorable.

"Everyone's like, 'Have a super day,'" Cerminara laughed.

A lot of people also said the unseasonably warm weather is helping make this Super Bowl a little extra super too.
