FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Dozens of planes were zipping through the air Saturday in Fort Wayne. It was the Fort Wayne Flying Circuits Remote Control Airplane Club's 14th annual electric fly event.

Around 20 to 25 registered pilots flew their battery-powered planes around while dozens of others came out just to watch.

"I think what's kind of unique about flying models from the ground is the fact that you can control every aspect of it. I'd rather be in a full scale plane flying that way, but it's a more affordable hobby this way," Pat Mattes, the contest director, said.

Next Saturday is the club's 30th annual Monster Mash event where RC Flyers are brought in from around the country.
