FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - A home on Howell Ave. was damaged after a fire early Tuesday morning.

The first fire officials on the scene found nothing visible from the outside of the home.

Once they went inside, they found heavy smoke.

A fire was located in a wall behind the fireplace. Firefighters opened the exterior of the house to help put the fire out.

One person was in the home when the fire started but got out safely.
