NEW HAVEN, Ind. (WANE) - At the East Allen County Schools Board meeting Tuesday evening, board members shared their plan for finding a new superintendent and the actions that will be taken for the remainder of the school year.

Board members voted and approved not appointing an interim superintendent. They said they will utilize the current staff for the remainder of the school year.

"We said we have an excellent staff in central office... We had a plan in place in case the superintendent would become incapacitated, let's follow that plan, and step up and do your job," " said Neil Reynolds, the EACS board president.

The board hopes to have someone in place by the end of summer or beginning of the 2013-2014 school year.
If they do not meet that timeline or have not found a suitable superintendent, then they will consider appointing an interim at that time.

On March 21 at 6 p.m. EACS will host community meetings in the different areas of the district, so parents and students can be a part of the process.

At the meeting, the board also discussed taking over the charter of Timothy L. Johnson which had its charter revoked by Ball State. The board said they plan to make a decision by early April.
