WOODBURN, Ind. (WANE) - District officials with East Allen County Schools will break ground on the new Woodlan Campus project. (inclement weather will move the ceremony to the gymnasium)
At 10 a.m., members of the community are invited to Woodlan Jr./Sr. High School for a groundbreaking ceremony that will begin the phase of turning the high school into a K-through-12 campus.
The $10.8 million project will add an additional wing to the school for younger students. Parking lots will be added around the property as will additional entrances off Woodburn Road and U.S. 24.
A storm water detention pond will also be added along Woodburn Road.
The entire building is scheduled to receive updates and remodeling.
Woodlan High School was first built in 1958 with an expansion in 1968. A major remodel occurred at the building in 1999.
Actual construction will begin in October and is expected to be completed by March of 2014.
A similar project at Heritage High School will begin in November, with everything expected to be completed by May 2014.
