EACS and superintendent to "part ways"

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE)  East Allen County Schools superintendent Dr. Karyle Green will leave the district earlier than expected. As part of an agreement, Green will step down March 1.

Green became the EACS superintendent in July of 2009. She spearheaded the district's redesign plan, which was met with controversy in the community.

In January, Green announced that she would leave when her contract expired on June 30, 2014.

One board member told NewsChannel 15 that details of the separation package aren't being made public until both sides agree to it.

The following statement was issued Monday night by the EACS Board of Trustees:

The East Allen County School Board and Dr. Karyle Green have mutually agreed to part ways effective March 1, 2013 rather than continuing through the remainder of her contract, which expires in June 2014. The board is intent on looking forward, and believes that this decision is in the best interest of the students, teachers and schools.

The school board has a new perspective on the goals, priorities and best interests of East Allen County Schools. The board will be prepared to share its plan for an interim superintendent and a timeline for finding a permanent superintendent at its regularly scheduled board meeting on March 5.

We want to thank the students, parents and teachers for their continued support.  We remain committed to providing an exceptional education experience for our students and are confident in the future direction of the district.
