FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - YWCA Northeast Indiana has launched a campaign to collect a ton of dimes to help victims of domestic violence.
Collection tubes will be located throughout Allen, Dekalb, Huntington, Noble, Wells, and Whitley counties. Some businesses have opted to collect dimes in their own containers. So far, partners include Ethan Allen, Accelerated International, Black Dog Pub, AJ’s Bar and Grill, and Pembroke Bakery.
The final tally of dimes will be announced in October, which is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
All proceeds from the Dimes for DV collection drive go to YWCA domestic violence programs. According to the Centers for Disease Control, one in four women has been the victim of severe physical violence by an intimate partner.
YWCA Northeast Indiana operates one of the largest domestic violence crisis shelters in Indiana, and offers both residential and non-residential support services for women, men, teens, and children.
Anyone interested in participating in Dimes for DV should contact YWCA Northeast Indiana at 260-424-4908.
