FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - A disabled 16-year-old from Afghanistan is getting life-transforming help in northeast Indiana.

Sana has severe scoliosis.

So Thursday, she arrived in Fort Wayne to have spine surgery and other treatment for her disability.

She'll be staying with the Lyon family, which got connected to Sana through a Christian charity called Solace for the Children .

"They [ Solace for the Children ] have families in churches that donate their services and they bring kids here for six weeks for health care and just some solace from the war," said Sana's host mother, Becky Lyon.

Sana will have an extended stay with the Lyons. She'll be with them for a year and a half.
