WATERLOO, Ind. (WANE) - DeKalb High School's mixed show choir was named the 2013 ISSMA State Champion on Saturday.
Classic Connection, under the direction of Shelley Johnson, also received the Best Vocals award.
The show choir lost one of their members back in February.
Tabitha “Tabby” Meade, 17, stayed at home sick and was later found dead inside of her home . The DeKalb County Coroner has not yet determined Meade’s cause of death.
DeKalb's show choir decided not to compete at a competition in Indianapolis the weekend following her death.
The choir instead sang at Tabby's funeral.
DeKalb show choir's website has a special page dedicated to remembering Tabby.
