FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Dozens of police officers and other members of law enforcement stopped in Fort Wayne Wednesday during their 1,000-mile bicycle ride across Indiana. COPS Cycling for Survivors is an event that helps raise money for families of officers who died in the line of duty.
"We don't want to forget about those officers who've lost their lives in the line of duty. And the officers here like Eryk Heck and Brad Matteson and so on, of those folks who have given their lives for the community, we just want to kind of make those memories kind of come to surface when we enter the communities and just stop and reflect, alright these officers did give their lives in the line of duty for these communities," said Rich Crawford of the Indiana State Police.
The ride started Monday and lasts 13 days. It will wrap up in Indianapolis, where the riders will present a check to the president of the charity.
