FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - An ordinance to begin the process to condemn Aqua Indiana’s water utility in southwest Fort Wayne will be introduced to the city council at its meeting on Tuesday, December 11.

John Perlich, Public Information Officer for the City of Fort Wayne, said the discussions on the condemnation could occur at the council's final meeting of the year on December 18.

In November, Mayor Tom Henry announced that the city would move forward to condemn Aqua in southwest Fort Wayne.

During the summer drought, Aqua experienced low water pressure in certain areas that resulted in it having to hook up to Fort Wayne's water system in order to meet demand.

City officials said they will continue to be open to negotiations with Aqua in order to reach an agreement.
