City councilman donates his pay raise to United Way of Allen County

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Fort Wayne City Councilman Geoff Paddock announced he will donate his two percent salary increase for elected officials to the United Way of Allen County.

Paddock, a Democrat, represents the 5th District.

The two percent increase is around $400 yearly. It will be contributed biweekly throughout the year.

“I did not believe it was appropriate to vote for a pay raise for elected officials.  The United Way does great charitable work for the community.  Todd Stephenson, President and CEO of the local chapter, told me any new gift will receive matching funds from the Indiana Association of United Ways.  So the local agency will actually receive $800 in new donations this year,” Paddock said.

Paddock received a salary of $21,500 before the two percent pay raise.
