FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - While a dozen of Churubusco High School students were taking photos in their prom outfits last weekend, the balcony they were standing on fell from underneath them.
Tori Harris, who was one of the students, explains what happened.
"We were waiting on our friend, she was running late, so we were waiting for the 13th person, and as we were all waiting up there, we saw her come, she went actually under the balcony first," she said, "And then as she was coming around the corner, we heard a really loud crack and then we basically all fell through."
Right as the students were falling, they're first instinct was to hold on to what they could.
"We all tried to grab onto something," Harris said.
Now the students are taking the fall in stride as they laugh and talk about that day. They said it will be a prom they will never forget, neither will those the students go to school with.
"Teachers and coaches and everyone was like 'I saw the video I can't believe you're ok,'" Harris said.
Everyone walked away ok, a couple students sustained some minor scratches and bruises.
The family of the house says their insurance will cover the damage to the balcony. This story has now received national attention.
