FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - North Side High School held it's 25th annual Christmas Party for Kids Surviving Cancer Sunday afternoon.

The school works with Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana to find families in the community to sponsor. The students raise money, shop for gifts, and organize the entertainment, a process that can take over a month. However, they say the time put into the project is well worth it.

"Knowing that I am able, through the school, to go out and supply someone with Christmas presents that has gone through, as a family, really hard times in their life, it just, it's awesome, said Jordyn Rigler, a student coordinator. "It's an awesome feeling."

More than a dozen families were at the party. They enjoyed performances by the North Side show choir, dance team, orchestra and drama ensembles, and the kids even got a visit from Santa.
