FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Fort Wayne police are trying to figure out how a car ended up in Spy Run Creek near Lawton Park early Wednesday morning.

The Fort Wayne Fire Department and scuba team was initially dispatched to the MLK Bridge on Clinton Street until someone told them the car was in the creek at Lawton Park.

Officials did not locate anyone in or near the car and determined the vehicle was unoccupied.

Fort Wayne police were attempting to make contact with the owner to try and determine why the car ended up in the creek.

Police said, at the time of the incident, the car had not been reported stolen.
