Call 311 to have bagged leaves picked up

FORT WAYNE, ind. (WANE) - Crews from Fort Wayne's street department finished collecting leaves in city neighborhoods last week, but if you still have leaves that need to be removed you can still do so, as long as they're in biodegradable leaf bags.

All residents need to do is call 311 to schedule a pick-up.  The leaves  will be picked-up within two business days. This service will be available through December 21

After December 21, leaves and other yard waste can also be dropped off at the City's two yard waste sites, the Biosolids facility in the 6000 block of Lake Avenue directly across from Lofton Way, and National Serv-All at 6231 Macbeth Road for a nominal fee. Biosolids Compost Facility is open 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. National Serv-all's compost site is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday.

This year, City crews picked up 15,257.32 tons of leaves from Fort Wayne neighborhoods.  That represented more than 4,100 dump truck loads and 440 vacuum truck loads.
Additionally, 1,152 biodegradable bags were picked-up, as scheduled through 311, so far this year.
