FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Friday night was the first time Bishop Luers’ football team played without longtime former coach Matt Lindsay. During Lindsay’s 26 year tenure, the team won nine championships and three state titles in a row in Class 2A.
When NewsChannel 15 went to the Luers vs. Concordia game, most parents said they’ll continue to support Bishop Luers, the football team, and Lindsay during this ordeal. Students are just as supportive.
"We're sticking together by just praying for Coach Lindsay and his family," said one student.
Lindsay was let go because of what leaders called "inappropriate video clips found on his computer." There was no nudity involved. Friday’s night game was in honor of Lindsay, for some students, to show how much they care about him, despite the circumstances.
“(We) dedicate it (the game) to him that we're still keeping it together," said a Luers student.
