FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Bishop John D'Arcy announced Friday that he has returned to the Diocese of Fort Wayne–South Bend after receiving treatment for cancer in Massachusetts.

The former head of the Fort Wayne-South Bend Diocese was hospitalized in Brighton, Massachusetts in early January after doctors found cancer in the lung and brain.

D'Arcy released a statement on Jan. 11 explaining he suffered from a very rare form of cancer.   He was also diagnosed with prostate cancer in February of 2011 and underwent treatment.

Bishop John  D’Arcy released the following statement after returning home:

I wish to thank Bishop Rhoades and all the people of our beloved Diocese for the prayers of so many, which have been poured out on me. They are an enormous consolation. Please continue them.

Pray that my YES to God and His Will, be full and whole-hearted and never begrudging, but a strong YES. I hope my Yes has the same spirit of Our Lady at the Annunciation and also her Yes at the foot of the cross.

It is good to be home. I send you all my love and gratitude.
