Battle of Bands raises money for slain Auburn soldier's scholarship

WATERLOO, Ind. (WANE) - Twelve bands will participate in a Battle of the Bands competition that will raise money for the JaBraun Knox Foundation Scholarship on Saturday, October 13 at the Classic City Center in Waterloo.

Sgt. Knox was killed in action in Afghanistan on May 18, 2012. A scholarship has been established in his name at DeKalb High School, where Knox played football and baseball.

The scholarship will be given to a male athlete at DeKalb High School who upholds the character Knox displayed on and off the field.

The activities will be begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday and will include:

  • Silent auction
  • Cornhole tournament
  • Children's contests
  • Dance party
  • More than $500 in raffle prizes

A beer tent and a full bar will also be available.

Competing bands include:

  • A Mac
  • Ruby Deluxe
  • Kiley G
  • CoGNITION
  • Shadder
  • Duane Eby
  • Down Pour
  • Steadfast
  • Miles High
  • Lizzy Tremaine
  • Driven Enemy
  • Dinero Moneybagz.

Tickets are $5 for individuals, $8 for couples, or $10 for families. Children under 5 will be admitted free.

The event is partnered with Quiet Knight and has a 501(c)3 tax-exempt designation.
