FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - A female black and white colobus monkey was born at the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo on September 25 and will be on exhibit for the first time on Thursday, October 4.
The baby monkey was named Kaasidy. Her mother, Jibini, and her father, Finnigan, went outdoors into their exhibit for the first time Thursday morning in the African Journey.
This is the first colobus monkey to be born at the zoo in 12 years.
To protect Kaasidy, the monkeys will only be allowed access to their outdoor exhibit when the outdoor temperature is above 60 degrees at the zoo.
The zoo is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through October 14. Admission is $13.50 for adults, $10.50 for seniors ages 60 and above, and $8.50 for children ages 2-14. Babies under the age of 1 and Zoo Society Members are admitted for free.
