FORT WAYNE, ind. (WANE) - Firefighters in Whitley and Allen County battled two separate fires early Tuesday morning.

Around 1:30 a.m., firefighters in northeast Allen County were called to a large detached garage fire in the 13000 block of Puff Road.

Fire officials said a neighbor across a pond from the home saw flames and called 911.

The garage was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived. Crews were able to put the fire out, but not before portions of the roof collapsed. Officials said the garage contained vehicles, lawn equipment, Christmas decorations, and other various items.

Investigators will look over the garage later Tuesday to determine a cause of the fire.

No injuries were reported.

Around the same time, Smith Township Firefighters were called to a house in the 400 block of South Main Street in Churubusco after a 911 call of smoke in the home.

Firefighters went inside the home and found smoldering insulation in portions of the roof.

Crews were able to quickly contain the fire from spreading to the rest of the home.

Two men inside the home were awakened by smoke detectors and were able to escape safely.

Investigators believe something electrical was the cause of the fire.
