FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - After a string of robberies at six different apartment complexes, the Apartment Association of Fort Wayne-NE Indiana (AAFW), has provided the following safety tips for residents, courtesy of the National Crime Prevention Council.

AAFW Executive Director Beth Wyatt urges residents to report any suspicious activity to both apartment complex management and police.
“The Fort Wayne Police Department has heavily stressed that residents need to pay attention to persons that have no direct business in the apartment community and who appear suspicious in any way,” Wyatt said. “They are committed to apprehending those involved and have said any calls reporting suspicious persons or activity will not be treated as a nuisance call, but rather investigated to the fullest degree.”

The latest attempted robbery occurred Friday afternoon at Gardenview apartments.
Police encourage people to remain aware of their surroundings, and to report anything suspicious to Fort Wayne Police at (260) 427-1201 or Crime Stoppers at (800) 237-STOP [7867].
