Angola strip club license appeal denied

ANGOLA, Ind. (WANE) - According to our partner in news, KPC , an appeal to reverse the decision that denied a license to operate a sexually oriented business in Angola was turned down Friday night.

The hearing officer had five days to make a ruling after the appeal was filed by Alva Butler and his company on Tuesday .

Butler's appeal was denied once before. Butler, owner of BBL Inc. and the Showgirl clubs in Fort Wayne, announced his intentions to open a strip club in Angola at the former Sliders location at 310 W. Wendell Jacob Ave. in August. Butler purchased the property and applied for a license to operate a sexually oriented business in the city of Angola.

The same week his liquor license was denied by the Steuben County ATC, Butler's application for a license to operate a sexually oriented business was also denied. This denial came after the Angola City Council changed the zoning rules on where sexually oriented businesses can set up shop in the city.

According to KPC , the 17-page ruling, issued by administrative hearing officer James McEntarfer, sided with the city on all counts, including the most obvious, that Butler's property at 310 W. Wendell Jacob Ave. is within 750 feet of residential structures.
