ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) - Officials in Allen County will be conducting a homeless count in the area on January 30 and are in need of volunteers.
The volunteers will perform a "point-in-time" homeless count to get government funding, and to find out more about the local homeless population, to be able to help them.
Officials said it is very difficult to do a count on homeless people in 24 hours because the homeless are so transient.
Volunteers also give the homeless care packages while they're counting.
Officials said the homeless count in January of 2012 was around 200 people.
