ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) - Friday, November 16 was Allen County Adoption Day.
Adoption Day is an effort to call attention to the more than 100,000 children waiting for adoption in the United States foster care system.
This was the first time that the media could record an adoption case in a courtroom.
"These children have often been through a lot of turmoil and strife and now they're given the stability and a future that they may not otherwise had. So, this is a true celebration day and it's giving them forever families as we like to characterize it," Judge Charles Pratt, of the Allen County Superior Court, said.
Pratt said this day was great for kids because they get a new family, new opportunities, and a new life.
Every year, more than 4,000 adoptions are finalized as part of National Adoption Day.
