FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The Honorable Judge Stephen M. Sims announced his retirement from the Allen County Superior Court.

Judge Sims will serve his last day on the bench Apr. 26.

Judge Sims was the Allen County Prosecutor from 1983-1994, according to a statement from the court. He was also a hearing officer/magistrate of the Allen Circuit Court from 1995-1996.

Currently, Judge Sims serves as a Judge of the Allen Superior Court Family Relations Division. He has held that position since 1997.

"I want to express my heart-felt appreciation to my family, my colleagues on the Bench and at Bar, my staff at the Allen County Juvenile Center, and to the community at large, who I've been privileged to serve," Judge Sims said in a statement.

Judge Sims served on various boards at local, state, and national organizations throughout his public service career, including most organizations impacting children involved in delinquency and family matters, according to the statement.
