FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The family of a young murder victim has expressed concerned over what it calls an inappropriate use of the deceased’s name and picture.
Tarah Souders, mother of Aliahna Lemmon, said her daughter’s identity has been misrepresented on various profiles and pages on Facebook.
Several pages were created shortly after the nine-year-old was murdered in December 2011.
A profile with the name “Aliahna Lemmon-rip” was active starting Monday. The name was later changed to “Katty Brown.” The profile listed WANE-TV, NewsChannel 15 as an employer which was a false claim. Requests were made to the user(s) to remove that information.
The user(s) behind the page had also posted information about a fabricated event said to be scheduled for Friday in honor of Aliahna in downtown Fort Wayne.
Below are posts copied from the profile.

Souders said she has given permission to only one individual to use Aliahna’s name for specified purposes such as fundraisers, etc. The individual is associated with the group titled "Wings of Innocence - In Memory of Aliahna Lemmon." The permission was granted through a notarized document.
