FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The pit bull mix rescued in May by Animal Care Officer Jason Miller has put on weight and is now recovering.
Molly, the lab and pit bull mix, was found in an abandoned house with no food and water. The temperature inside the home was 98 degrees when the dog was found.
A veterinarian said that at the time the dog was rescued, it was 12 to 16 hours short of death.
Molly is now up to 42 pounds and if all of her safety checks go well, Miller plans on adopting her.
Molly's former owner, 23-year-old Reginald Culpher, will spend 180 days in jail for abandonment and neglect of a dog.
