FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The Fort Wayne Museum of Art hosted the Art and Writing Awards competition Sunday afternoon at the Grand Wayne Center.

The event featured both middle and high school students from 52 counties in Indiana and Ohio competing to get their art displayed in the Fort Wayne Museum of Art.

Around 2,200 people were in attendance Sunday to watch as the winners were announced. The winning students will have their artwork displayed at the museum from Sunday, February 10 to Sunday, April 7. Students will receive an honor at the awards ceremony to find out who will advance to national judging on March 15.

The Fort Wayne Museum of Arts program is one of only 26 Scholastic Programs in the country to offer the full Art and Writing Program.

Museum leaders say the winning students go on to win national awards too. National judging will be on March 15.

The competition is co-sponsored by The News-Sentinel
