FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Office Depot donated 100 backpacks on Thursday as part of their grand re-opening celebration for their newly remodeled Lima Road store.

The donations are part of the Office Depot Foundation’s national backpack program, through which it will donate around 300,000 new backpacks this year to children across the world. This is the tenth year for the program and by the end of the year they will have given away more than 2.3 million backpacks.

Office Depot also donated $100 to Big Brothers Big Sisters, Community Harvest Food Bank and the Parkview Family YMCA.

“Office Depot is committed to strengthening the communities where our company conducts business,” said Wendy Blauvelt, manager of the Fort Wayne store. “We are excited to introduce our new store in Fort Wayne and to assist these outstanding local non-profit organizations in their efforts to make a difference in the lives of children and families in our community.”
