FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The Lifetime Sports Academy will celebrate another successful summer program with their annual awards presentation at McMillen Park on Friday, July 30, at 11:15 a.m.

More than 1700 children participated in the thirteenth summer of the academy. Free group lessons were offered for golf, tennis and swimming to boys and girls, ages 8 – 18.

The Parks and Recreation Department provided certified coaching and highly trained professionals who directed lessons in swimming, tennis and golf. Offering instruction in three sports has been a successful formula throughout the years. The Lifetime Sport Academy has developed a solid reputation and is attracting a huge number of kids each summer.

This year they gave 3600 golf lessons, 1900 tennis lessons and 2,400 swim lessons. More than 70 rackets and 70 sets of golf clubs were earned by the participants through different award programs.

Since its beginning in 1998, Lifetime Sports Academy has awarded more than 1,050 tennis rackets and close to 850 sets of golf clubs to participants who passed their skills tests. Friday's awards ceremony will also recognize the winners for leagues and tournaments in tennis, swimming and golf.
