HAITI (WANE) - A Haitian teenager who got life-saving treatment in Fort Wayne has died.

Last year, local doctors fixed weak pumping chambers in Wigans's heart.

Wednesday, Dr. Stan Rich -who worked on him- told NewsChannel 15 that Wigans died Monday in Haiti.

Dr. Rich says he won't know why for a couple days.

Local doctors donated care and equipment during Wigans's stay at Lutheran Hospital.

He then spent several weeks recovering with a host family in Fort Wayne .

NewsChannel 15 first introduced you to Wigans last May. He headed back home to Haiti in mid-July.
