Fort Wayne received just over 10 inches of snow on Tuesday.

What grade would you give city crews for their snow plowing efforts?

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The Fort Wayne Street Department is continuing to plow residential streets in Fort Wayne following the 10 inches of snow the city received Tuesday night.

Frank Suarez, Director of Public Works, said crews are expected to complete the plowing of Fort Wayne's neighborhood streets late Thursday. As of 5:15 p.m. Thursday, Suarez said 90 percent of the city's residential streets were cleared.

Suarez said the city has a full crew out covering all of the routes. There were between 30 and 40 trucks out on the streets on Thursday afternoon, according to Surrez.

"It's a very heavy snow and it’s wet, but our hope is that we will get into all of the residential areas today," Suarez said.

Suarez said Wednesday some of the major roads had to be revisited because of the amount of snowfall in such a short period of time. Suarez said there's usually two trucks on one major road to plow and salt areas the first truck may have left or could not get.

The plows hit the main roads first , and moved onto the secondary roads Wednesday.  Suarez said the main roads were passable by Wednesday morning.

Suarez also wants to reminds residents who normally have their garbage and recycling picked up on Thursday and Friday that the pick up will be one day behind this week. Thursday pick up will be on Friday and Friday pick up will be Saturday.

Residents can also call 311 from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday to report any roads that may need extra plowing.
