One person safely escaped garage fire

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Just before 10 p.m. Saturday, Fort Wayne firefighters were called to a garage fire at 4020 Stellhorn Rd.

Firefighters are still on the scene. The fire is out, but crews are making sure no hot spots reignite. 

Part of Stellhorn is blocked off.

Firefighters said one person was home at the time of the fire. That person noticed the fire in the garage and called the fire department. That person was outside when fire crews arrived.

No one was hurt in the fire.

Firefighters arrived to find the fire in an attached garage. The fire spread to the second floor and part of the attic. Firefighters put out the fire and several small fires hidden in pockets. The fire was under control in 19 minutes.

There's moderate smoke and fire damage to garage and second floor of the home.
