ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) Multiple fire crews were called out to a large house fire Friday night on the 7000 block of U.S. 33, between O’Day and Johnson roads.

The fire started just after 7 p.m. and the home was fully engulfed in flames by the time crews arrived.

Trucks from Arcola Volunteer, Washington Township, Churubusco and Huntertown all responded.  Additional tanker crews were also called in.

A Churubusco firefighter who was driving through the area, saw the fire and kicked down the front door.  Inside the home, he found an elderly man who was oxygen dependent. He pulled the man out of the home and medics took him to a nearby hospital.  The man is currently listed in serious condition.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
