FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The annual Fort Wayne area PTA Council's Reflections and Citizenship Essay Showcase was held on Saturday afternoon at the Fort Wayne History Center.

The event is a chance for students to express themselves through a variety of art techniques including literature, music, and video production. This year's theme was "The Magic of the Moment."

The showcase is open to students in kindergarten through 12th grade and the essay contest is open to students in 4th grade through 12th grade. This year's essay theme was "How We Can Help People."

This year, 72 pieces were submitted from 13 Fort Wayne Community Schools. The number of schools participating from last year doubled. There was also a 25 percent increase in essay and art entries from previous years.

The winners from this showcase will advance to the state competition.

Each year Fort Wayne has about a third of the state's winners.
