FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - He was captivated by the ideas of America's founding fathers while he was going to high school in Iraq. Sabah Saud ended up leaving his home country four decades ago. At the time, he was troubled by the early stages of Saddam Hussein's rise to power.
Saud moved here to Fort Wayne, working as a civil engineer at first, and then opening his own small business -a karate school- in 1976. In 1984, he became a citizen; one who deeply cherishes our country's regard for intellectual, spiritual, and emotional freedom.
Saud is concerned that his fellow citizens aren't working hard enough to help U.S. democracy thrive, and he says holding the media accountable would be a good start as he talks with NewsChannel 15's Mark Mellinger for our special series "Saving America: 28 Ideas in 28 Days."
