FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Analysts expect 100 million people to watch Super Bowl 44 on CBS.
Super Bowl Sunday has long been the perfect excuse to upgrade the entertainment center and according to retailers in Fort Wayne that trend is still going strong.
Nationwide, television sales are up 38 percent over last year. Before Sunday's game, stores across the country are expected to sell 3.6 million televisions.
The Super Bowl buying blitz happens every year but stores in Indiana have the Colts to thank for an extra boost. Managers at Classic Stereo and ABC Warehouse in Fort Wayne say they have seen a lot more people strolling through the TV aisle.
"In the past two weeks, we've had twice as many people in on a daily basis just for the Super Bowl," ABC Warehouse Store Manager, Adam Tronger said.
"A lot of people have parties so [they will] have to impress friends and family with the bigger TV," Classic Stereo Sales Manager, Sam Mathews said.
Televisions sold ahead of the game account for nearly ten percent of all television sales for the year.
