LARWILL, Ind. (WANE) - Does your dog constantly knock over the water bowl? A local inventor has a solution for you called The Doggie Fountain.

Tony Lytle lives in Larwill, Indiana with his wife and two German Shepherds. He's the welder who invented a drinking fountain for canines.

“It's a new product. And a lot of people don't know about it,” Lytle said.

A few years ago, Tony's daughter asked him to create something for her dog. The water bowl she purchased constantly got flipped over or filled with bugs and debris. So, Tony started working on a concept for the Doggie Fountain.

Instead of putting water in a bowl for your dog, you simply hook the fountain up to your outdoor water source with a garden hose. Turn it on. And teach your dog to press the pedal to get a drink.

“I'm real excited about this, obviously,” he said. “We're hoping it takes off next spring.”

Tony said it took his German Shepherds just two days to learn how to work the aluminum fountain.

The product is designed to be used in warm weather. Tony hooks up his fountains in March and keeps them on through the fall.

The Doggie Fountain can be found at Rural King stores in Angola, Kendallville, Decatur, and Van Wert Ohio.

Each one sells for about $40.00
