PLANFIELD, Ind. (WANE) A Fort Wayne woman is facing charges, after police say she tried to take drugs into the Plainfield correctional facility.

Investigators say staff observed Kimberly Keller, 38, pass something to Bobby Freeman when she was visiting him at the correctional facility. The visit was ended and Freeman was found to have marijuana in his possession.

Keller was taken to the Hendricks County jail and is facing one felony charge of trafficking over 30 grams and one misdemeanor charge of possession.

Freeman was placed in segregation after the incident pending an investigation. He is currently serving a 20 year sentence for battery, a two year sentence for car theft and a two year sentence for receiving stolen property. The earliest he might be released is January 10, 2015.

Superintendant Brian Smith said “as this event took place in the visiting room, with other visitors and offenders present, the professionalism of the staff involved kept the situation as calm as possible without endangering others and achieving the desired result – keeping a controlled substance from entering the facility and apprehending those responsible for attempting to do so.”
