Suspect dead after two officers were shot, canine killed in Pendleton

Manhunt over for suspect in shooting

PENDLETON, Ind. (WISH) The manhunt is over for a man who fired at police officers, injuring two and killing a canine, after he was found dead.

Officers say this incident began around 11:00 pm at Water and East Street in Pendleton with shots fired at the officers.

One witness told 24 Hour News 8 that the suspect had broken into her garage prior to the shooting.

The suspect has been identified as Jim Kenneth Bailey. He is described as a 5-foot-11 white male, who weighs approximately 200 pounds. He was wearing black shorts and a gray T-shirt.

One officer, from Anderson sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and was taken by helicopter to St. Vincent Hospital.

A second officer, who is from Pendleton, sustained a very minor cut from a flying bullet.

Police confirm one innocent male victim was killed in the attacks.

Swat teams from the Indiana State Police, the Madison County Sheriff's Office, the Anderson Police Department and the Delaware County Sheriff's Office are on the scene searching for the suspect.

The town of Pendleton has been sealed off. Motorists are told they need to find an alternate route.
