Two FW Democrats with troubled pasts filed for northeast Indiana House seat this week

FORT WAYNE, Ind, (AP/KPC) Two Democrats, from Fort Wayne, have announced they’re running to represent northeast Indiana in Congress.

John Forrest Roberson,62, and Tommy Schrader, 49, both filed this week to run for the seat held by Republican Rep. Marlin Stutzman.

The Journal Gazette of Fort Wayne reports (http://bit.ly/zpm9Fd ) that both Roberson and Schrader have had troubles in the past.

Schrader won the Democratic primary for the Fort Wayne City Council seat in May of 2011, but was removed by the Allen County elections board after it was discovered he was registered to vote in Green Bay, Wisconsin and had voted in a primary there.

Roberson was fired from the Fort Wayne Police Department in May of 1999 after being disciplined 28 times. He had also been arrested for a battery charge the previous year.

Stutzman is likely to face little trouble seeking re-election in the heavily Republican district. He won the seat in 2010.

According to our partners at KPC News, a Warsaw attorney became the third Democrat to enter the race for the U.S. House of Representatived 3rd District seat. David Kolbe, 57, is a former Kosciusko County prosecuting attorney.

He was expected to formally announce his candidacy on February 4.

The winner of the Democrats' May primary likely will face Stutzman in the general election in November.
