WESTVILLE, Ind. (AP) -- Authorities say a truck driver faces trafficking charges for allegedly trying to smuggle cell phones into a northern Indiana prison.
The Times of Munster reports 37-year-old Dario Sanchez of Chicago was arrested last week at the Westville Correctional Facility about 40 miles southwest of South Bend.
Prison officials say contraband cell phones were found inside the cab of the truck Sanchez pulled into the prison last Friday while making a delivery. Authorities say Sanchez may have been trying to deliver the cell phones to an inmate serving a 20-year sentence for dealing cocaine.
The prison's superintendent says he commends his staff for discovering the cell phones, which inmates are barred from using.
