NASHVILLE, Ind. (AP) -- State Police say a 3-year-old southern Indiana boy has been shot and wounded at a relative's home in Brown County.

The Brown County Sheriff's Department was called Sunday evening to a home where deputies found that the boy had suffered a gunshot wound. State police said Monday that the boy was airlifted to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis for treatment and his condition wasn't immediately available.

Brown County officials have asked Indiana State Police to investigate the shooting. The agency says that the boy was at a relative's home at the time of the shooting, but no other details were immediately available.
