SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) -- South Bend police say a 5-year-old boy who was accidentally shot by his 7-year-old brother is in stable condition and is expected to recover but could have severe nerve damage in his hand.
Police Capt. Phil Trent tells WSBT-TV the 5-year-old boy was taking a bath about 8:30 p.m. Thursday when his 7-year-old brother came into the bathroom and shot him. The boy's was struck in the wrist and hip.
Police are continuing to investigate. The 7-year-old and a baby in the house at the time of the shooting have been placed with Child Protective Services.
