HAMMOND, Ind. (AP) -- Authorities say a 50-year-old northwestern Indiana man drowned after he fell through the ice while skating with a friend on a lake.
The Lake County coroner's office listed Edward Ihnat's death as drowning and says he was pronounced dead Thursday at a Hammond hospital.
Hammond Fire Chief Jeff Smith tells The Times of Munster (http://bit.ly/WgpELG ) that the Whiting man fell through the ice Wednesday night on Wolf Lake.

Smith says fire crews were called to the former Illiana Yacht Club building near the Indiana Toll Road about 10 p.m. Wednesday on a report of two men who fell through the ice. Smith says one man was able to get out, but Ihnat was under water for 20 to 25 minutes before he was found by firefighters.
